Create, activate and sign in to your account

To use everything on offer, you'll need your own user account. You'll find the link to register in the menu at the top, under Register.

Creating an account

In the form, enter a display name, username, email address, and a password (twice, to confirm it). The eye icon next to the password fields briefly reveals what you typed, so you can catch typos. The phone number is optional, and the newsletter opt-in is checked by default but can be unchecked any time.

Before submitting, you'll also confirm the terms and conditions and the privacy policy. A short, automatic security check running in the background also keeps the form from being abused by bots.

Exactly which permissions and areas your account gets after registering can differ slightly from site to site — e.g. whether you get automatic access to certain areas.

Activating your account

After submitting, you'll receive an email with an activation link. Your account is created at that point, but still disabled — only clicking that link switches it on. If you can't find the email, check your spam folder too.

Once activated, you can sign in as usual via Login — with your password, or without one at all, as described in the two topics below.
