Eco series

WiFi sensors for energy and building services – open, simple, no manufacturer cloud

The Eco series makes existing devices cloud-ready: inverters, electricity meters or socket meters send their values via WiFi directly to EcoSensors.cloud, without a detour through the manufacturer's cloud. There you see trends and current values in the dashboard and are notified when something is unusual.

All sensors are based on the open-source firmware ESPhome. Hardware and software are largely open, so most sensors can also be built yourself or converted from standard devices.

How it works

WiFi 123 Eco sensorEcoSensors.cloudDashboard reads the devicestores & analysesdisplay & alarms
  1. The Eco sensor reads an existing device (inverter, electricity meter, load) and measures its values regularly.
  2. It transmits them via your WiFi and the internet to EcoSensors.cloud, where they are stored and analysed.
  3. In the dashboard you see trends and current values and are notified when something is unusual.

If you like, you can additionally integrate the sensor locally into Home Assistant, without needing the cloud for that.

Which firmware variant runs on your sensor is shown under Variants for each device. When updating, always keep the variant already installed on the sensor.

Key data

Connectivity WiFi 2.4 GHz (802.11 b/g/n), 5 GHz is not supported
Firmware open source, based on ESPhome
Setup the same for all sensors: own hot spot, enter WiFi, register sensor
Updates via the sensor's web interface, depending on the device also at the push of a button or via EcoSensors.cloud
Power supply depending on the device: from the inverter (EcoPVGX), own power supply unit (EcoMBR1) or from the circuit (EcoSPM)

First steps

  1. Connect or install the sensor, see the instructions for the respective device.
  2. Set up WiFi: connect to the hot spot eco…-<ID> and enter the credentials of your WiFi.
  3. Register the sensor with the EcoSensor ID so that the data appears in your dashboard.

The setup is the same for all Eco sensors and is described in detail with pictures in the general guide. Everything that applies only to a specific device is in the respective device documentation below.
